Distribution Technician

About the role

The Distribution Technician will support the distribution engineering team in fault restoration, maintenance and asset replacement projects across Guernsey’s electricity network. The role combines hands‑on field work with project delivery, offering a clear pathway for electricians to develop their career in the utility sector.

Key responsibilities

• Perform on‑site fault restoration and LV fault handling, following training and competency requirements.
• Deliver small‑scale asset replacement and upgrade projects on the distribution network.
• Carry out routine maintenance, update technical records and arrange necessary materials.
• Coordinate with developers, contractors, local authorities and legal professionals for outages, road works and project approvals.
• Supervise staff during fault incidents and ensure compliance with health‑and‑safety policies.
• Engage with customers to schedule work on their premises and maintain clear communication.
• Participate in a formal standby roster as required.

Required profile

• Level 3 electrical qualification (or equivalent) is preferred.
• Proven experience in electrical distribution systems or domestic/commercial electrical installations.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Motivation to deliver results and a commitment to health‑and‑safety standards.
