Senior Metering Engineer

About the role

The Senior Metering Engineer is responsible for all technical aspects of electrical energy metering systems for customers and businesses across Guernsey. The role includes overseeing installation, maintenance and operation of both standard and advanced metering equipment to ensure reliability, accuracy and excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight of all metering operations and manage system implementation across the organisation.
• Develop, refine and monitor processes for installation, maintenance and operation of metering equipment, including advanced and specialised systems.
• Establish procedures to guarantee the accuracy and integrity of metering records, supporting revenue assurance.
• Lead compliance frameworks covering local legislation, Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities and Data Protection.
• Act as Asset Owner for metering systems, managing their full lifecycle.
• Direct investigation and reporting of metering anomalies and potential fraud.
• Provide leadership, guidance and technical support to metering staff and contracting electricians.
• Engage with internal teams, external contractors and customers to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
• Own the metering data set, overseeing analysis, configuration management, application support and coordination with the billing team.

Required profile

• Minimum HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or a related discipline.
• Current IOSH Working Safely (or equivalent) certification.
• Specialist training in metering installation, typically provided by manufacturers.
• Proven experience managing metering systems and leading technical teams.
