Electrical Engineer – Maintenance (Power Station)

About the role

The Electrical Engineer – Maintenance will ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of power station electrical plant and control systems. Working on‑site at Guernsey Electricity’s generation facility, you will lead fault‑finding, repairs and routine maintenance while supervising staff and contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate, diagnose and repair faults on power station electrical equipment and control systems to maintain high reliability.
• Support small‑ and medium‑size projects, including commissioning new equipment in line with safety procedures.
• Supervise internal maintenance teams and external contractors, ensuring adherence to safe working practices.
• Perform high‑ and medium‑voltage switching and secure plant according to Electrical & Mechanical Safety Rules.
• Assist with budget preparation, monitor expenditures and approve invoices.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records using the company’s IT systems.
• Comply with local health & safety, equal opportunities and data protection legislation.

Required profile

• Minimum HNC qualification in electrical/electronics or control systems engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical plant and control systems within a power generation environment.
