Assistant Finance Manager

About the role

Saffery Trust, a director-led private client firm established in Guernsey in 1977, is looking for an Assistant Finance Manager on a permanent contract. The role supervises monthly and quarterly reporting and financial statement preparation across specific offshore jurisdictions, supports the Finance Manager and Finance Director in departmental operations including people management, and coordinates the annual audit and budget processes.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and supervise monthly and quarterly reporting packs, annual budgets and annual financial statements for each offshore jurisdiction, and liaise with the auditors
• Review general ledger postings, VAT returns prepared by external accountants, and ensure cross-border services are accurately invoiced and recorded
• Manage and prepare monthly cash flows for each jurisdiction for at least 18 months in advance, and maintain salary postings with monthly reconciliation
• Support debt collection and credit control, and ensure bank and intercompany reconciliations are completed and signed off
• Identify and implement work review processes, and assist with recommendations for improving finance-related software
• Depute for the Finance Manager, set team objectives and development programmes, and carry out PAD reviews twice yearly

Required profile

• Technical knowledge and demonstrated accounting ability; ACA/ACCA or equivalent, with CPD requirements met
• Experience in accounting for cross-border services subject to transfer pricing regulations
• Good written and verbal communication, critical analysis and attention to detail
• Ability to work to deadlines and project plans with minimal direction, and a commercial approach
• Management skills, integrity, discretion and tact
