Facilities Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a Facilities Assistant to carry out general repairs, maintenance and modification work across Guernsey Electricity’s buildings, properties and facilities, including power stations, generation halls and substations. The role involves a mix of skilled and semi‑skilled tasks to keep our assets fit for purpose.

Key responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of general maintenance activities to ensure buildings and facilities remain operational.
• Carry out building works such as carpentry, painting, basic masonry and fencing installation.
• Undertake minor repairs on roofing, cladding, drainage, steel fixing, concreting, ground‑work and the erection of temporary works and shoring.
• Operate specialist equipment, machinery and hand tools safely and in accordance with training.
• Complete general labouring tasks as required and comply with health, safety, equal opportunities and data protection legislation.

Required profile

• Preferably a tradesperson with several years’ experience in building maintenance.
• Authorized as ‘Competent’ under Company Safety Rules to work in HV substations.
• Holder of a full, valid Category B driving licence.
• Ability to read basic drawings and work schedules and organise small amounts of paperwork.
