Night Care Assistant

About the role

To provide high-quality, person‑centred care to residents during night shifts, promoting dignity, independence, privacy and wellbeing at all times. The role involves supporting residents with daily living activities while ensuring a safe, comfortable environment in line with the home’s policies and Guernsey care standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal care tasks such as washing, bathing, dressing, grooming and hygiene.
• Support toileting and continence care, maintaining dignity and respect.
• Help with mobility, transfers and repositioning using appropriate moving‑handling techniques and equipment.
• Assist residents with eating and drinking, encouraging independence wherever possible.
• Observe residents’ physical, emotional and mental wellbeing and promptly report any changes to the nurse or senior care assistant.
• Record care provided accurately and promptly in care documentation.
• Support residents to attend medical appointments and activities as required.
• Assist with monitoring food and fluid intake where appropriate.
