Consultant Gastroenterologist – Permanent, Guernsey

About the role

The Medical Specialist Group is seeking a GMC‑registered Consultant Gastroenterologist to join its team in Guernsey. The role focuses on delivering specialist gastroenterology services to the island’s 65,000 residents, with no General Internal Medicine on‑call duties.

Key responsibilities

• Provide inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology care, including endoscopy and inflammatory bowel disease management.
• Collaborate with a dedicated nurse endoscopist and IBD specialist nurse to enhance patient choice and develop new on‑island services.
• Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives within the department.

Required profile

• Holder of a GMC Specialist Register for Gastroenterology.
• Desirable accreditation in General Internal Medicine (GIM) but not required for on‑call rota.
• Commitment to a minimum of 10 programmed activities per week, full‑time.

Required skills

• Endoscopy proficiency.
• Expertise in inflammatory bowel disease management.
